Jesh Foundation is a non-governmental organization established in 1997 with the leadership of a group of professionals along with some reputed social workers with the vision of “positive world for the poor and vulnerable people”.
Jesh Foundation works for development in four programmatic areas:
(a) Pro-Poor Private Sector Development
- Human resources development capacity building of unemployed young man and women, especially of disable women through training on appropriate/intermediate technologies.
- Alternative technology/appropriate technology.
- Micro Enterprise.
- Innovative Material Development.
- Develop small scale entrepreneurship among the poor people by facilitating them with logistic supports.
(b) Human Rights and Good Governance
- Child Rights
- Woman Rights
- Human Rights
- Capacity building of local service providing organization
- Alternative Dispute Resolution.
(c) Food and Livelihood Security
- Micro-credit support to Jesh group of the ultra poor.
(d) Environment, Climate Change and Disaster Management
- Disaster preparedness and post disaster management and recovery.
- Protection of ecosystem, biodiversity and environment.
Jesh Foundation strongly believes that private sector initiative for development in socioeconomic condition of the country and environmental change is today’s reality. If we want to save the livelihood of millions of poor and vulnerable people in Bangladesh, we have to work for development of pro-poor private sector environment in Bangladesh. Human Rights Situation has been staggering and is down trodden either by the ruling regimes or by the economic groups forming the power of the society. Admittedly, people living below poverty line are denied of their human rights in food, education, sanitation and the like and the numbers of such wretched fellows are almost half of the population. The recent threats due to the environmental change coupled with the climatic variability poses uncertainties for the existence of her people.
